International Congress of Stuff

Doha really slows down and clears out over the summer. Those few of us who don't have the luxury of leaving for the hot months inevitably must come up with something to amuse ourselves on those long, hot summer nights. Recently (well actually a few weeks ago but you get the point) we were celebrating my birthday at my favorite bar, Wahm at the W Hotel, when we came up with the genius idea to have a weekly dinner party and cooking competition while people were still around. It was dubbed the International Congress of Stuff, established by the Council of Wahm (the group that was at Wahm that evening) and is governed by the Edict of Wahm with various rules on competition and voting. Sound silly? Yeah kind of but it's entertaining nonetheless.

The best part is that we have a blog to recount all of this, including the competing recipes and auxilliary dishes cooked by other people. Each week has a new dish to showcase two dueling recipes and others usually cook in the theme of the main dish. Check out the last 3 weeks of competition: http://internationalcongressofstuff.blogspot.com/
